Gully Music is the debut full length album by Sydney / Eora based artist BUSHRANGER. Hovering in-between worlds of radio static, singing water holes and bathed in walls of night crickets. This is the sound of communing with the bush itself, uniquely Australian in tone, approach and atmosphere. You can hear the clicking of machines left to their own devices, guided by an unknown voice. Gully Music connects the sound worlds of meditative metal, lo-fi techno and a forgotten ceremonial music. Explore sonic landscapes where gothic ambience slithers around gum trees in the night and hidden water passages trickle through empty gullies, its echo feeding back into the land. This is improvisational music by nature, played on the edge of a dream state. Come meditate on natures weight.

BUSHRANGER is the lesser known project by Eli Murray who’s known for his DJ mixes and musical productions as Gentleforce. The Bushranger sound is focused around “bush meditation”, a practice using field recordings of the Australian environment alongside improvised noise and electronics. With a strong focus on psychogeography and spatial histories each recording attempts to convey the history and emotional connection to a specific place or object. Live shows fuse sensorial elements such as incense and botanicals to bring the bush to the audience. This is not entertainment but a communing with nature.

I stumbled upon Gentleforce via a link from Tim Ritchie & Kinderling radio, I've been listening to a lot drone, ambient field recordings, head music & this particular album has everything needed for a sonic journey & a good lie down. Which I believe Eli Murray intended, it's great to hear a Sydney based artist exploring new territory. DJHDD
